What’s the protein source in Organic Fuel Whey Protein Powder?
Organic whey protein concentrate. Milk is made of two proteins: casein and whey. Whey protein can be separated from casein protein in milk or formed as a result of cheese making. Our whey protein is generated as a result of cheese making. The real organic milk used to make Organic Valley cheese comes from pasture-raised cows on Organic Valley family farms.
What’s the difference between whey and casein protein?
For those who are looking to build muscle mass, the difference between the two proteins is the amount of time it takes for the body to metabolize the protein. Casein is a slow-acting protein, and whey is a fast-acting protein. It takes the body 3 to 4 hours to metabolize casein protein; whereas, whey protein can be metabolized in 20 minutes. Both proteins are desirable for building muscle mass.
Why is protein good for me?
Protein is a primary building block in muscle, bones, skin and blood. Consuming enough protein satisfies your appetite more completely, as well as aids in post-workout recovery and supports muscle and tissue repair in general. The protein in Organic Fuel Whey Protein Powder is a superior quality whey protein that occurs naturally in milk. Whey is a “fast-acting” protein that the body can break down and absorb quickly. Whey protein helps promote muscle growth and strength. Casein is a “slow-acting” protein because it takes longer to digest and is slowly released into the bloodstream. Both proteins are desirable for building muscle mass.
Can I use Organic Fuel Whey Protein Powder to gain weight?
Weight gain strategies should focus on eating more healthy and nutritious calories and protein along with proper strength training to make sure weight gain happens in the right places. Protein builds your muscles and keeps you satisfied longer. Organic Fuel Whey Protein Powder would be a nutritious part of a balanced weight gain plan.
What's the carbohydrate source in Organic Valley Organic Fuel?
The carbohydrates in Organic Valley Organic Fuel Whey Protein Powder come from naturally occurring lactose present in all milk, organic stevia, and in the Chocolate variety, a minimal amount of unrefined, fair trade, organic cane sugar in the Chocolate variety.
Why does Organic Valley add cane sugar and stevia to its protein beverages?
Unrefined, fair trade, organic cane sugar is a natural carbohydrate that, when consumed in combination with protein, helps muscles replenish the glycogen lost during exercise. This improves recovery speed. Plus, cane sugar stabilizes the powder and makes for a smooth shake once you add the liquid. Stevia keeps the glycemic index low while adding just the right amount of sweetness.
What is the ideal carbohydrate-to-protein ratio?
A one-to-one carbohydrate-to-protein ratio is ideal for recovery. We recommend that you mix Organic Fuel Whey Protein Powder with your preferred source of natural carbohydrates (milk, fruit or veggies) to reach a one-to-one ratio. For example: if you mix Organic Fuel Whey Protein Powder with 1 cup of strawberries and 1 cup of milk, you would have the proper ratio of protein to carbohydrates, not to mention a delicious Chocolate Covered Strawberry Shake!
